Voluntary Sector engagement - Peter Roffey DL

I first came to Melton Mowbray as a soldier in 1956.   I married a Melton girl and we have had a home in Melton Mowbray since 1970.    I retired from uniformed military service in 1992 and was employed in a Retired Officer capacity until November 2002 when I retired from full-time employment.

I have been serving the community in various ways since 1988 when I joined Melton Lions Club.    I became a feoffee of the Melton Mowbray Town Estate in 1992.   I was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Leicestershire in 1994.   I was first elected County Councillor for Melton South in 1997 and from May 2003 until May 2007 I have had the privilege to represent Warwick Ward on Melton Borough Council.  I did not seek re-election due to other commitments.   I maintain local community links through a number of voluntary sector organisations and I am a school and college governor.

My voluntary community service include:
Army Benevolent Fund Leicestershire & Rutland Committee - vice-Chairman
              Brooksby Melton College - Governor
              Long Field School - Governor
Melton Mowbray Lions Club - member
